Club Deportivo Honduras Progreso is a Honduran football club based in El Progreso, Honduras, founded in 1965. The club currently competes in the Honduran Liga Nacional and plays their home matches in El Progreso. Their most notable achievement came in 2015 when they won the Liga Nacional Apertura title, marking a remarkable comeback after years of absence from professional football.
Club Deportivo Honduras Progreso, commonly referred to as Honduras Progreso or simply Honduras, represents El Progreso in Honduran professional football. The club has experienced significant periods of both success and struggle throughout its existence, including complete dissolution and subsequent revival.
The club's most significant recent achievement was winning the 2015 Apertura league title under coach Héctor Castellón, defeating Motagua 4–1 in December 2015. They also reached the runners-up position in the 2016–17 Clausura tournament.
The club was originally founded in 1965 under the name Club Deportivo Honduras and was one of the founding clubs of the league. They competed in top flight football until 1969, when they finished last in the standings and were relegated to the Segunda División.
Following their relegation in 1969, the original club soon dissolved and remained absent from Honduran professional football for many years. After decades of absence, the club was revived and brought back as Club Deportivo Honduras Progreso in 2011.
Former national goalkeeper Wilmer Cruz became manager in 2013, earning his coaching license in summer 2013. The club's revival reached its peak in 2015 when they captured their first Liga Nacional title under the guidance of Honduran coach Héctor Castellón.
